What is BHI?

  • BHI or Behavioral HealthCare, Inc. is a non-profit Managed Care Company.
  • BHI holds the Medicaid Mental Health contract in Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas Counties, including the City of Aurora.
  • If you have Medicaid, and live in Arapahoe, Adams or Douglas Counties, you are automatically enrolled in BHI when you receive Medicaid benefits.
  • BHI manages mental health benefits and will be important to you if you seek mental health services.
  • BHI contracts with a number of mental health providers. Community Reach Center, Aurora Mental Health Center, and Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network are BHI's primary providers.
  • In addition, BHI maintains a network of independent providers with locations throughout the Denver Metro area.

What does BHI do?

  • BHI seeks out qualified professionals to be part of its provider group
  • BHI ensures all of its providers meet professional standards
  • BHI monitors and works to improve the quality of care provided to persons enrolled in its program
  • BHI processes claims and pays the professionals who provide its services
  • BHI helps enrollees file and resolve any complaints they may have regarding the managed care program
  • BHI acts as the state-designated BHO (Behavioral HealthCare Options) for Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties, including the City of Aurora
  • BHI ensures that a broad variety of mental health services are available to BHI enrollees based on individual needs. Not every service is available at every location. Services include:
